HPV PCR DNA Testing

Human papillomavirus (HPV)
What is HPV?
Human papillomavirus (HPV) is a group of related viruses. They can cause warts on different parts of your body. There are more than 200 types. About 40 of them are spread through direct sexual contact with someone who has the virus. They can also spread through other intimate, skin-to-skin contact. Some of these types can cause cancer.

Low-risk HPV can cause warts on or around your genitals, anus, mouth, or throat. High-risk HPV can cause various cancers such as cervical cancer, anal cancer, some types of oral and throat cancer, vulvar cancer, vaginal cancer and penile cancer.

Most HPV infections go away on their own and don't cause cancer. But sometimes the infections last longer. When a high-risk HPV infection lasts for many years, it can lead to cell changes. If these changes are not treated, they may get worse over time and become cancer.

HPV DNA PCR
HPV DNA PCR TEST  is a technique used to detect strains of the HPV virus that are at high risk of causing cervical cancer. Therefore, it is a very sensitive technique that can be detected even when there is an infection before becoming cervical cancer, this method makes the detection of cervical cancer more accurate by over 92%,compared to a 50–70% accuracy in detecting abnormal cells in the Pap smear test.

There are 2 options for HPV testing.

1. HPV Standard
HPV PCR 18 Genotypes

Detection of 18 most high-risk and medium risk cancer- causing Human Papilloma Virus (HPV)

HPV standard test looks for high-risk HPV types 16 and 18 as well as detecting 16 other high-risk and medium risk types that cause cancer without specific genotypes. This test is suitable for people who need an annual health check up and also want to save cost or have no symptoms of infection or are at risk for HPV infection.

2. HPV Pro

HPV PCR 14 Subtypes
Detection of 14 most high-risk cancer- causing Human Papilloma Virus (HPV)

HPV Pro is very effective in detecting HPV 16 and 18 which are high-risk types known to significantly increase the risk of cervical, vaginal, and vulvar cancer in women, as well as penile cancer in men.
HPV Pro also show the results of the other most commonly HPV genotypes that associated with development of cancer which are types
31, 33, 35, 39, 45, 51, 52, 56, 58, 59, 66 and 68. This test is fit for people who are at risk or have some symtoms of HPV infections.
